450 people in Brent live with sickle cell. If you live with sickle cell in Brent, the Sickle Cell Society can help you and your family.

We provide practical and emotional support and advice to people living with sickle cell. This new service aims to help keep you out of hospital and give you the skills and confidence to better manage your own health, as well as helping health services better serve you.

This new service is only for people with sickle cell disorders registered with a Brent GP. It is specifically for:
• Those recently seen in hospital for an acute pain crisis or sickle related illness
• Those about to be discharged from hospital
• Those thought to be at risk of being admitted

If you meet these criteria, you can refer yourself directly, or through your GP. Please contact Sharon sharon.jackson@sicklecellsociety.org or telephone 020 8961 7795 for more information.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIVE IN BRENT?

The Sickle Cell Advice and Support Service only covers Brent at the moment. If this project is successful, we will be able to use its success story to make the case for providing the service in other locations, too.

For non-Brent residents, we can provide telephone support through our Helpline. Call 020 8963 7795.
