Artistic Express!
Artistic Express is an event put together as part of the Hackney Engagement Project commissioned by Hackney council.
It’s an opportunity for teenagers from the borough of Hackney and nearby boroughs between the age of 13 – 18 to express their thoughts and experiences of Sickle Cell in a fun and creative way through different forms of art.
The main workshop on the day will be hosted by Rap Therapy, a UK registered social enterprise that uses rap as a therapeutic tool to train young people to be creative and positively express themselves. Their mission is to improve the creativity, positive expression and mental health of young people, which in turn prevents social tragedies. They have successfully worked with over 3000 students across over 35 different youth establishments in England. This includes delivering impactful workshops that challenge young people to be as creative as possible pushing them beyond their known limits. Their workshops are impactful due to their understanding of how to relate to young people, especially as our team of presenters/rappers are role models in their communities.
