World Sickle Cell Day Poster 2020
For World Sickle Cell Day 2020 we encouraged people to wear red to raise awareness of sickle cell amoungst friends, family and colleagues. Real Lives blogger and sickle cell advocate, Laurel Brumant Palmer, took on the challenge with a unique twist: each person who donated to her fundraiser on World Sickle Cell Day and wore red to raise awareness would be added to a hand drawn awareness poster.
To date, the fundraiser has raised £380 and today the poster was completed. You can see below the beautiful poster and all those who donated and raised awareness this year. You can see more of Laurel’s spectacular work at her Instagram: @laurelbrumant
We want to say a massive thank you to Laurel and everyone who donated to this creative fundraiser.
On the JustGiving page Laurel said:
“I was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease and suffered my first painful crisis at the age of 3. Growing up as a child and teenager with a horrific blood condition was very difficult. I want people to understand that the fear and pain that I experienced as growing up has made me the person I am today. The Sickle Cell Society has been a great support to me, my family and to sufferers and their families. l love to laugh because I have something to be happy about. Laugh with me and help me to put a smile on many peoples faces by supporting this good cause. Thank you!”
